Crystal Adams
Crystal Adams (Offsite) joined Crowe in 2013 to lead the firm’s corporate social responsibility activities. Working off-site from Denver Colorado, she manages the Crowe Foundation, helps to place our people on non-for-profit boards and is a resources to local offices on philanthropic or volunteer initiatives. The apples didn't fall too far from the tree, as Crystal's twins recently presented an idea for a philanthropic business on ABC's Shark Tank.

Q. What was the idea your kids' presented on Shark Tank?
A. Village Scholarships is a start-up business involving a peer-to-peer scholarship automation platform where every student is eligible to receive a scholarship and every business and individual has the ability to easily create one. Unfortunately, their appearance in the January 15 episode didn't result in a deal, but they were offered guidance on their business model and may pursue another chance in the hopes of a better outcome.

Q. What is most rewarding about your firmwide community involvement role?
A. Community involvement is exemplified in our core values. Studies have proven that employee volunteerism and business philanthropy positively affects the ways in which we are viewed by our communities, prospects and clients. I am humbled and amazed on a regular basis at the generosity of the people at Crowe. Over the course of my career, I have worked in larger organizations that did a better job at telling the story rather than living the story of how communities are supported. At Crowe, I'm proud to say we walk the talk.

Q. How do successfully manage working remotely in Denver?
A. I'm a pretty focused person and other than the typical incident of letting a dog either in or out, I'm not easily distracted by being at home. I've got a separate workspace and my family and friends respect "work time" versus "personal time." I had actually worked from my home office prior to joining Crowe and can confidently say Crowe does a wonderful job of providing the tools and technology to support their off-site workers.

Q. What would people be surprised to learn about you?
A. At 6'2", people assume that I played basketball at some point in my life – and I did. I was a recruited out of high school by nearly 100 colleges, earning All Big 8 Conference and All Big 8 Academic Team honors, being a member of the U.S. Olympic Festival Team and earning Big 8 Tournament MVP.
