Chad Holtkamp (Chicago) joined Crowe in 2012 as a recruiting coordinator in People Services. Today, as experienced talent acquisition manager, Chad handles the recruiting for most of the firm’s internal groups including People Services, Market Development and Sales, Financial Services, Firm Risk Management and Global Services. When he’s not serving his internal clients, Chad is publishing books and displaying his talent for photography at gallery showings.

Q: What drew you into writing and photography?

A: I’ve always enjoyed exploring my creative side – from singing and playing guitar to DJing and acting. In 2013, I became interested in photography and eventually enrolled in a class, which culminated with a recent gallery showing in Chicago. Around the same time, I also started a fitness blog (, which led me to explore writing. In 2015, I wrote my first Kindle fitness book “Work Out, Pig Out: A Year of Losing Fat, Gaining Muscle and Eating Lots of Ice Cream.” The book reached #1 in ten categories on Amazon the day it was released. I followed that up with two more books, with the latest, “Get Strong, Get Lean: A Year of Barbell Training, Intermittent Fasting and Eating Lots of Protein,” released last month.

Q: What do you see as the biggest challenge in helping Crowe compete for talent?

A: Outside of our core markets, we find that a lot of people haven’t heard of Crowe, especially for our internal roles. It’s a pretty competitive landscape and most of our candidates are talking with multiple firms, so every advantage we can showcase helps. Our Best Places to Work awards and our What to Wear and Where to Work policies are great selling tools.

Q: What would people be surprised to learn about you?

A: I think they would be surprised that I’m colorblind, technically red/green. It’s hard for me to tell between blues and purples or pinks and grays, some shades of green and brown as well. If someone sends me an email and uses red to make text stand out, I won’t notice it.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of Crowe?

A: Aside from my many hobbies and taking Caribbean beach trips with my wife, I love cooking BBQ and learning new techniques. It’s quite the learning process but an awesome way to make great food.
