Brenda Torres
Brenda Torres (South Bend) joined Crowe as a campus hire in 1994 from the University of Notre Dame. Today, she’s the partner in charge of operations for Audit, a member of the Audit BU management team and CEO advisory council, which drives several key initiatives for the firm each year, and serves as the dean of the Audit College within Crowe University – our firmwide learning programming. She does this all while continuing to serve external clients.

Q: How has your career at Crowe evolved?
A: Early on, I wasn't sure public accounting would be a long-term fit for me. However, as I progressed in my career, I pursued new opportunities that challenged me. As relationships with my co-workers and clients continued to evolve, I also developed a passion for learning. I've developed content and taught CPE courses, took on various leadership roles and participated in women's programming. In my newest role as Audit College dean, I'm most interested in how we can develop and deliver training to our people through the use of technology, including on-demand training, podcasts and webinars, as well as in-person training.

Q: How do you successfully juggle your many personal and work responsibilities?

A: I have an extremely supportive spouse and true partnership managing the household, a tremendous support structure and mentorship at Crowe and an organized structured approach to work/life integration. For 10 years, I worked on a reduced work schedule, including while being promoted to partner in 2008.

Q: What's your proudest career accomplishment?
A: There are many including my first client win and being elected partner. However I'm most proud when I can make a difference in someone else's life by helping them work through a challenge, whether professional or personal.

Q: What would people be surprised to know about you?
A: After working at Crowe for just one year, I became a single parent at 22. That experience forever changed me and I will never forget the tremendous support I received from the firm during that time and in the many years that followed. He no longer works here, but I met my husband at Crowe. We had two children together and he also adopted my oldest son.
