Bharat Chandrasekar
Bharat Chandrasekar (Offsite) joined Crowe in 2004 as a staff member in the Grand Rapids office. Today he's a Risk Consulting senior manager based in the Washington, D.C. area. He's the solution owner for Crowe® Dynamic Customer Insight (Crowe DCI), which helps banks identify and monitor accounts and relationships that pose greater than normal risk of Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering violations. Born in India, Bharat became a U.S. citizen this year.

Q: What does it mean to you to become a U.S. citizen?

A: I came to the U.S. in 2002 to earn my graduate degree in Computer Science from Central Michigan University. I love being a part of America, its culture and its people. Now that I'm a U.S. citizen, I can fully contribute as a member of society by voting in elections, serving on a jury or working in the community. The process was very lengthy and time-consuming including multiple application filings, fingerprinting and interviews, but I am very excited and happy.

Q: How has being an innovator played a role in your career success?
A: As the solution owner for Crowe DCI and also having worked on Crowe Activity Review System® for Financial Institutions, I've developed a strong platform for learning and have a better understanding of regulatory requirements. Crowe's investments in developing technology solutions combining our industry knowledge, thought leadership and experience has proven to be a differentiator for us in competitive bids. It provides additional value for our clients, and in a fast-paced business environment, our focus on technology will allow us to retain our competitive edge in the market.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of Crowe?

A: I've tried to learn to snow ski for a few years now and am finally getting the hang of it. In summer, I like to spend time at the beach, golfing and enjoying the warm weather.

Q: Where in the world would you most like to travel and why?

A: I would like to travel to Antarctica. Last year, I attended a presentation on Earnest Shackleton and his leadership during his South Pole exploration in the early 20th century. Although travel here would be much easier and less adventurous now, it is still on my bucket list.
