Bethany Harms (Denver) joined Crowe in 2017 when the firm incorporated the operations and welcomed the personnel of Crowe GHP Horwath. Today, Bethany is a senior staff member in Advisory Services, performing valuation work for tax and financial reporting purposes. Bethany is also active in Women Leading@Crowe, serving as the local lead for the Denver office, helping coordinate the WL@C quarterly events, facilitating discussions at the meetings and handling the meeting logistics.

Q: How has being a member of WL@C benefitted you?

A: After joining Crowe, becoming a member of WL@C helped me to integrate with the firm right from the get go. I have made connections with women in different business units and been able to gain a new perspective on what it takes to be successful.

Q: What are some of the specific things you’ve done to promote WL@C in Denver?

A: I encouraged women to participate and attend WL@C events by talking about the group with others whenever I get a chance. I’ve found that some women aren’t aware of what exactly WL@C is or does, so raising awareness about what we do is my mission. Many are happy to learn that being a member is a great way to connect with a diverse group of women who you may not typically interact with otherwise. It is also a great resource for mentoring, professional development and networking within the firm.

Q: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
A: I began flying lessons when I was 14 and could fly a plane before I had my driver’s license. I thought I might make a career out of it but I’m colorblind and learned that I wouldn’t be able to fly at night because of it. Since flying is an expensive hobby, I decided to put it aside for the time being but I hope to pick it back up one day.

Q: What is your personal motto or philosophy?

A: When I talk I am only repeating something I already know, but if I listen I may learn something new.
