Wayfinder Family Services
Crowe’s Los Angeles office has been supporting Wayfinder Family Services (formerly Junior Blind of America) since 2000, volunteering and providing charitable giving to the not-for-profit. Through the office’s involvement, Lissa Kane (Los Angeles) got involved with Wayfinder and she’s taken a leading role in coordinating volunteer efforts for the office. “Wayfinder provides children, young people and adults with individualized support and services around vision loss, special needs, mental health and foster care and adoption,” explained Lissa. “The programs offer early intervention, education and training, recreation, residential treatment, residential rehabilitation, foster care, adoption, mental health, transitional shelter care and youth transition services.” Last year, Lissa coordinated Wayfinder’s annual holiday party for youth, adults and families who are participating in Wayfinder’s programs. As part of the event, Lissa was involved with pre-event planning, purchasing gifts for the Secret Santa activity, organizing a gift-wrapping party, working with co-sponsors and staff and enrolling volunteers to attend the event. “This year was a banner year for donations and we gave more than $1,300 for the Children’s Gift Fund and Wayfinder,” said Lissa. Aside from the good feeling she gets from providing children with joy during the holiday season, Lissa enjoys the time spent working with her co-workers who also volunteer for the organization. “This event would not be nearly as successful if I didn’t have such an enthusiastic and generous Crowe team working with me along the way.”
