Last week, more than 350 Crowe individuals took part in the Performance Consulting and Applied Technology (AT) Training Blitz in Indianapolis. Focused on the theme “Learning Matters Now,” the three-day event provided opportunities for individuals across our Performance Consulting and AT business units to enhance their deep specialization with sessions focused on industry, technical and professional knowledge and skills. Additionally, they connected through networking, team-building activities and social outings. Below are some highlights:
- Performance Consulting Managing Partner Josh Cole (Grand Rapids) kicked off the blitz with an inspiring message on why learning matters now.
- Teachers and students from Grand Valley State University were onsite Monday and Tuesday with an interactive showcase, which allowed everyone to discover, learn and share how innovative emerging technologies can enhance and improve teaching and learning. Some of the items showcased included a 3-D printer, augmented reality apps and Google Glasses.
- AT held a team-building activity Monday night where they assembled 14 bikes for the local Boys and Girls Club.
- Following last year’s success, the blitz again included a “Shark Tank” innovation challenge. Loosely modeled after the TV show, the challenge invited teams to bring forth ideas for improving internal or client processes. Teams submitted ideas before the blitz and the top three ideas were selected to be pitched to the Shark panelist at the blitz. The submitters pitched their ideas to a panelist, including Performance Consulting and AT leaders as well as special guest panelist CEO Jim Powers (Indianapolis). The panelists asked probing questions and gave feedback around each idea, and then all blitz participants voted to select the top idea.
