In line with our values, Crowe established a matching donation campaign in October in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew – both in the U.S. and in Haiti. The firm committed to match donations made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, and our people responded by donating $9,480. With the firm match, we will donate a total of $18,960 to support disaster relief efforts. Thank you to everyone who demonstrated their generosity by donating to the campaign.

Beyond the matching donation program, Two Crowe professionals helped on the ground with relief efforts in Haiti. Following the hurricane, Maeghan Hutchins (Hartford) and Renee Beauchemin (Hartford) spent a week in Grand Goâve, Haiti, as part of a previously planned mission trip. “Originally we had a different trip planned but once the hurricane hit we quickly changed our mission to help those in need,” said Renee. Maeghan and Renee worked alongside Haitian contractors and other mission workers to rebuild two homes for families who lost everything. They also packed relief bags to help people have the basic necessities. “People walked 6-8 hours down from the mountains to Grand Goâve with the hope of finding some food and supplies to take back to share with their families and community,” said Maeghan. “Everyone was so grateful. It was a very humbling experience.” Renee and Maeghan were so moved by their experience that they are each sponsoring a child from one of the orphanages. “The people of Grand Goâve really stole our hearts,” said Renee. “We are already talking about returning soon.”
