Monday, January 15 is Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day, celebrating the great civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Dr. King devoted his life to advancing equality, social justice and economic opportunity for all and taught us that we all can make a difference. “As I consider the life of Dr. King and all of the civil rights leaders who have come before me, I’m overwhelmed with a sense of responsibility and pride,” said Blake Evans (Chicago), Performance Healthcare senior manager. “I’m proud of how far we’ve come and I know that I truly stand on the shoulders of others. Because of those shoulders I have achieved a graduate-level degree, work at one of the top accounting and consulting firms in the country and lead a team of talented and diverse individuals.” In his role at Crowe, Blake honors Dr. King’s legacy by celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion. During a recent Performance Healthcare meeting, he shared tips to help us all be more inclusive – from traveling abroad to experience a new culture to simply taking time to get to know our colleagues. Blake added, “On a personal note, I’m the proud father of one-year-old Blake Jr. Reflecting on MLK Day gives me hope that even though we have come so far, my son’s future will be even brighter than my own. That hope is not just limited to my personal family but extends to the future of Crowe.”

Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” How will you plan to honor Dr. King’s legacy? Share your stories in the comments section below.
