Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, celebrating the great Civil Rights leader. When Crowe’s Victor Sturgis (Grand Rapids) was in Washington D.C. for the National Association of Black Accountants national conference last summer, he visited the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. “I noted a quote in the stones of the memorial, ‘…We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly,’” recalled Victor, a regional lead for Crowe’s African American People Resource Network (PRN). For him, this quote resonates through all levels of our lives – from our families to our communities and to our workplace. “We are all a part of the fabric that makes each other stronger,” Victor said. “At Crowe, our shared values solidify the notion that we are all tied together in a single garment, as Dr. King would say, and we are all stronger if we continue to instill these values in our everyday lives.”

Crowe supports Martin Luther King Day and other nationally recognized holidays that raise awareness about diversity and inclusion and we’re committed to creating a progressive and inclusive work environment that acknowledges the diversity of all people. One of the ways we show this commitment is through our people resource networks (PRNs). In addition the African American PRN, Crowe has the Asian, Latino and Gala and Lesbian Allies (GALA) PRNs. These groups support the firm’s efforts to recruit and retain diverse people, while also encouraging collaboration of differences to bring more value to our people, our clients, our communities and the firm.
