New accounting and assurance standards, as well as advancements in technology make the areas of learning and professional development a career of its own in a CPA firm, which has led to the creation of this position. 

The Manager, Accounting and Assurance Technical Learning reporting to our Director of Professional Development and working closely with our Professional Practice department, will be responsible for planning, drafting and delivering training to our audit and assurance staff. This training will include core training as well training on new and revised assurance and accounting standards and other training as identified by practice inspections, monitoring etc.

  • Self-motivated, creative and thoughtful in the way that you approach assignments 
  • Both accountable and independent in your judgment and decision making 
  • Flexible, proactive and forward-thinking

Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing audit and assurance files in a public accounting firm, with a total of at least seven years’ experience in the profession overall
  • Experience delivering training to other professionals 
  • Experience drafting training materials 
  • Strong grasp of ASPE, IFRS, NPO and pension plan accounting standards
  • Exposure to automated audit techniques and tools
