Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business number and sales tax program registrations
  • Completing GST and provincial sales tax returns, completing election and other forms
  • Filing returns
  • Assist Tax Specialists and Managers in the preparation of tax returns and other tax forms by gathering information, performing basic calculations etc.
  • Communicate with clients via email and telephone to obtain information for the completion of tax returns
  • Liaise with tax authorities to obtain information and documents
  • Self-review of all work products/projects to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with applicable regulations and internal controls
  • Respond to tax-related queries from other departments
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge as required for the position
  • Perform sundry administrative duties as required during busy periods


  • Minimum two years of practical experience in public accounting practice or industry in sales tax related work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent client service
  • Comfortable working with numbers
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn
  • Contributes positively to a team environment, but able to work independently
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping concepts
  • Bilingual in French a strong asset

Computer Skills

  • Knowledge in Caseware/ Caseview
  • Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
    • Excel Pivot tables, V-Look-ups, Sumifs etc.
  • Tax applications including Taxprep, CCH Intelliconnect, Taxnet Pro, Tax Find etc.
