We are currently looking for a proactive, self-starter to join our team as a Specialist in our Corporate Insolvency practice. 

Position Summary

The candidate for this position will be assisting the Partner, Senior Specialist and Managers in the Corporate Recovery and Turnaround Group.  Must have an accounting background, preferably a CPA degree.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Specialist will have an interest in insolvency, and entering the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals’ (CAIRP) Qualification Program that leads to CAIRP’s professional Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy’s license to practice as a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. 
 
The candidate will gain excellent knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and be knowledgeable in the application of the Income Tax Act, as well as various other Acts that affect the insolvency Industry, such as the Personal Property Security Act, Landlord & Tenant Act, Corporations Act, etc.
 
Specifically, the duties of the Specialist are:
  • Corporate Bankruptcy Filings
    • Administration of Corporate Bankruptcy
    • Preparation of Statement of Affairs
    • Review of Assets, Receivables and Secured Creditors
    • Assisting in taking possession and securing of assets
    • Analysis of books and records
    • Assisting in Preparing Reports
    • Participating in Meetings of Creditors and Meetings of Inspectors
    • Responding to enquiries from creditors, debtors and stakeholders

  • NOI’s and Division I Proposals
    • Monitoring of the business operations
    • Preparation of Statement of Affairs
    • Analysis of Asset and Liabilities
    • Preparation of Cash Flows
    • Assisting in Preparation of Proposals
    • Assisting in Preparation of Affidavits and Reports
    • Participating in Meetings of Creditors and Meetings of Inspectors
    • Responding to enquiries from creditors, debtors and stakeholders

  • Receiverships and CCAA
    • Monitoring of the business operations
    • Analysis of Asset and Liabilities
    • Preparation of Cash Flows
    • Assisting in Preparation of Affidavits and Reports
    • Participating in Meetings with key stakeholders
    • Responding to enquiries from creditors, debtors and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • CPA, CGA or Accounting Experience
  • Excellent analytical skills
