Position Summary

The candidate for this particular position will be responsible for both the Summary Administration and Consumer Proposal file portfolios and be able to work independently.  Must have excellent knowledge of the ASCEND application, as well as Excel and Microsoft. Knowledge of Docusign and Syngrafii is an asset

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

An Estate Administrator will have completed the Insolvency Administrator’s Qualification Program, as well as the Insolvency Counsellor Qualification Program. The candidate will have excellent knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and be knowledgeable in the application of the Income Tax Act, as well as various other Acts that affect the insolvency Industry, PPSA, Landlord & Tenant Act, Ontario Corporations Act, etc.

Specifically, the duties of the Estate Administrator are:

BANKRUPTCY FILES:

  • Excellent knowledge of the BIA
  • Attendance & Interview of Potential Bankrupts 
  • Preparing Statutory Documents for Signature
  • Mailings to Creditors, Debtors, and Other Stakeholders 
  • Performing Statutory Counselling of Debtors (All Offices)
  • Report to Trustee/Manager on all aspects of the file
  • Surplus Income and Conditional Discharge Calculations
  • Asset/Fee control and follow-up
  • Bankrupt Discharge Procedures, Reports, and Court requirements

CONSUMER PROPOSAL FILES:

  • Excellent Knowledge of Division II Proposals and Timelines
  • Attendance & Interview of Potential Debtors
  • Preparation of Statutory Documents for Signature
  • Surplus Income and Proposal Payment Calculations
  • Preparing Statutory Documents for Signature
  • Reporting to Trustee/Manager on all aspects of the file 
  • Correspondence & Interaction with Debtors & Creditors
  • Follow-up and Negotiations with creditors and debtors
  • Performing Statutory Counselling of Consumer Debtors (All Offices)
  • Payment, Arrears, and Milestone Tracking

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Assisting with telephones, mailings, attendance Bankruptcy Court office
  • Varied reports and calculations involving excellent Excel and Word skills
  • Tracking of files, estate payables, time summaries 
  • Supporting Trustees with statutory requirements for Corporate and Personal Ordinary Files
  • Preparation of Dealing with Newspaper ads as required 
  • Division I Proposals, research, preparation of statutory documents and administrative assistance to the Trustee
  • Varied projects, research, investigations involving corporate bankruptcies or receiverships books and records

Qualifications

  • Insolvency Administrator’s Qualification Program;
  • Insolvency Counsellor Qualification Program;
  • At least three to four years’ practical experience.
