Short-time work phase 5

Until now, an adapted short-time work model has been running since 1st of July 2021, the duration of which was limited to a maximum of 6 months and with the rule stating the loss of working hours may not exceed 50%. This model ends on 30th June, 2022, at the latest.

Due to the federal lockdown in effect since November 22nd, 2021, the conditions for short-time work were adjusted.

Short-time work phase 5

  • In the current situation, COVID short-time work already makes it possible to reduce working hours up to a complete work stop-page
  • with a net income replacement of 80 to 90 per cent
  • this measure is maintained in any case until the end of the year.
  • If short-time work is applied for the period of 22.11.2021 to 01.12.2021 (in Upper Austria 15.11. to 5.12.2021) or
  • the enterprise belongs to certain ÖNACE classifications (determined by the AMS),
  • the obligation to have the economic justification confirmed by a tax consultancy is waived.
  • The deadline for filing an application for the period 15.11. until 5.12.2021 ends at the end of the fourteenth day after the start of short-time work, at the latest at the end of 15.12.2021 (in Upper Austria 19.12.2021). Normally, the application must be made before the start of short-time work.
  • The further organisation of short-time work beyond this date is currently still being examined and depends on the infection situation.
  • Particularly affected enterprises with an ongoing short-time work project can apply for a modification of an ongoing subsidy with the reason "ban on entering". This application is already possible via AMS.
